Home visits

If you are housebound or too ill to come to the practice, you may be able to have a home visit from a GP.

When to request a home visit

  • If you are too unwell to travel safely to the practice.
  • If you are housebound or have mobility problems.
  • If your condition makes it difficult to attend in person.

Home visits are only offered when clinically necessary.

How to request a home visit

Please call the practice as early as you can, ideally before 10:30am.

  • Call us on +44 (0)1708 957100

A GP or another senior clinician will often call you back first to discuss your symptoms. This helps them decide if a home visit is necessary.

What to expect

The GP will bring essential equipment but not everything available at the surgery.

Sometimes, the GP may arrange for you to be taken to hospital if needed.

For urgent medical problems at home

If you or someone you care for has an urgent medical problem (like a fall or a sudden infection) and you are considering going to A&E, there is another service that may be able to help.

The Community Treatment Team (CTT) is a rapid response team that can treat many acute problems at home to help avoid a hospital visit.

Alternatives to home visits

If you can safely come to the practice, please book a face-to-face appointment. This allows us to offer home visits to those who need them most.
